Maton 1975 Phil Manning Custom Stereo PM1

Maton 1975 Phil Manning Custom Stereo PM1

"Rosewood Rare"
The PM1 is a big guitar in many ways. It’s beautifully crafted with contrasting maple chamber covers on the back and a gorgeous mahogany or rosewood carved body, ebony fingerboard with block markers and binding to the body neck and headstock.

Twin split-able humbuckers with separate volume and tone, a three-position selector switch, three-way tone toggle, a master volume and an output selector for stereo; this guitar has the works. And if that wasn’t enough there is also a phase selector.

Less than 250 Phil Manning Custom Stereo guitars were made between 1974 and 1977 making them relatively hard to come by, however, the rosewood version offered here is believed to be one of less than 20 made. This is one of only two we have ever seen, making this guitar very rare, we won’t say for sure but it looks a lot like Brazilian Rosewood to us.

The guitar exhibits signs of wear with several small bumps and scratches, nothing major, but enough to show its age. The original case is in perfect working order. This is a fine and collectible Maton electric guitar made under the leadership of Bill May while he was still at the helm of Australia’s leading guitar builder.
