1952 Gibson Les Paul 2002 R2 50th Anniversary (Custom Shop) Gold Top - Murphyaged
Made in a limited run during 2002, the Gibson Les Paul 1952 reissue is quite the score in Gibson collectability. Immaculately presented in its original “old school” form fit Lifton case with Custom Shop Certificate, this is one Les Paul that will separate your collection from most. You may bump into a collector friend who owns an original ’52 Goldtop but there’s less chance you’ll ever see another collection boasting one of these.
This guitar was made to commemorate 50 years since the inception of the original Gibson solid body electric guitar. Made to be a true collector’s piece the model sports P90 pickups, a 22-fret bound rosewood board with trapezoid inlays and the original wraparound trapeze tail piece. The wraparound bridge is either loved or despised; but it is unique to the early Les Paul model and although they take some getting used to, they work quite well once you get comfortable with them.
This guitar has a Murphy aged finish and although originally tagged to be made in a run of 52 examples, it is believed that only 29 were actually produced. That would put this guitar as one of the last ones made. Not many Gibson’s around that are this rare.
