Flanger Pedals

Flanger pedals work by duplicating a guitar signal and delaying one of the identical signals by a small and varying amount. This process creates a fluid, warbley effect that can be heard on such songs like "Tomorrow Never Knows" and "Axis: Bold as Love." In the '80s, players like Eddie Van Halen expanded the popularity of flanger effects with the famous "jet engine" sound that combined flangers with high-gain rigs. While often lumped in with other modulation pedals like phase shifters and chorus, flangers offer something unique and are well-poised to make a serious comeback.
